Working year-round outdoors in sunny, humid Southwest Florida, I often encounter both plants and creatures that can cut, prick, or otherwise wade through with my fingers over and over again. Thorns, razor sharp grass, thorns, wood shavings, bees/hornets, fire ants, neighborhood dogs โ well, you get the picture. Because it's so hot and humid here and I often have to use some kind of topical remedy when I'm injured, simply applying a regular bandage doesn't close the wound or dry it out. After drying and cleaning the wound and applying a suitable topical plaster, I cover the area with the correct size plaster (my favorite is a very large clear plaster). After that, I wrap this self-adhesive tape around my finger until it sticks to itself. This allowed me to protect minor injuries and continue working outdoors without fear of the bandages falling off. The patch and patch combination also help keep the wound dry while the topical remedy does its job. A good thing!
