I have a leather sofa that is about thirty years old. The storage area is ripped and I used regular duct tape to secure it making it twelve inch by twelve squares. The item came off, leaving sticky glue on my clothes and pillows. I then decided on Gorilla Tape which is a wider material I bought at Wal Mart and did the same with a large square to cover the gaps and that material is black so it looked better than the silver to begin with on my purple sofa. It worked damn well, and after a year I had to touch up a few spots where it was peeling off easily and where the couch tore even more at the seams of the duct tape, and not the duct tape's fault. There was a small problem with the adhesive when it was first applied to the velor pillow and it won't come off. But I just put another piece on the sticky part and it's ok. I'm a fan of duct tape and if you want to take it to the next level use Gorilla Tape. lol those things are actually decent.
