Before buying, I read other reviews and decided to try. After that I ordered a few more. Two of my horses wore them for a few days before wearing them out. They can if they want. However, they seem comfortable. They work very well under our bridles so they work great when we are riding. We are trail riders and get out for hours so it's a huge relief without having to worry. We don't leave our horses haltered because they roam freely through 30 acres of pasture and woodland, but if someone did I believe it would not only be comfortable for the horse but would also help protect the horse from friction to preserve.
