Review on Wagan Inverter TrueRated 1600W Surge by Jeff Henkhaus

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked right out of the box! Perfect for a small 120v RV fridge!

I have an RV with a 7.3 cu ft Danby fridge freezer that runs on 120 volts AC. Sometimes we want to dry the bearing so the electrical connections are not available. I used the Danby as a replacement for an old +12V/120V RV propane fridge. I have a large bus battery for my rig, about the size of 3 regular car batteries combined. As a test, I connected the Slim Line 800 inverter to the battery of my motorhome using the cables supplied and connected a short extension cable to my Danby fridge. The fridge turned on with no problems and worked for 4 hours before the fridge reached the right temperature. The needle on my trainer's battery gauge didn't even move. I have to lay a thick battery cable from the battery box to the cold store, where the Slim Line 800 inverter is permanently installed, everything works perfectly. The fridge is around $350, this inverter is around $90 plus battery cable and is a very cheap and practical solution to replace an expensive 2 or 3 way van fridge that is over $1500 can cost. Update: After installing the inverter in the cold store and running about 20 foot thick battery cables into the bus battery compartment with a 100 amp circuit breaker, I tested the inverter with a fully charged battery. The refrigerator has been running for 48 hours since it was started. The battery gauge was just under 12 volts. The inverter could likely run the fridge for another 24 to 48 hours before hitting the 10 volt shutdown threshold. Very impressed with this inverter.
