I was very pleased with how well this sweater held up. I was concerned that my hyper pup (he was 3 months and 37 pounds when I bought him and is now 7 months and 78 pounds) would destroy him out of the blue. It got really dirty while playing, but it always looks new after a wash. It was quite large when I bought it, but finally it started to fit well. The sweater stretches a little, so the sizing is forgiving. I don't think a large one will work for a St. Bernard, Newfoundland or other "giant" breeds, but it will work well for your large and possibly some very large breeds. For medium sized dogs (about the size of the porter when I bought him) you will need to roll up the neck hole like a turtle once and it will come almost to the tail. The cut of the sweater prevents your dog from getting it dirty when he goes to the toilet, even if you are a larger size.
