Good product! the best insulation and noise control

I bought this to line the underside of my ATV (four wheeler) plastic body. I bought an aftermarket exhaust system that generates significantly more heat than a stock pipe. I always ended up with a painful red spot on my lower calf that could burn me THROUGH the plastic casing. I measured the temperature of the plastic that burned me, 120-125 degrees. I bought this and went to work removing the bodywork. When I took it off, I saw the factory heat-reflective tape, but it was as thin as tin foil. I also found a few spots on the inner plastic that were completely melted. I carefully cleaned the area where I wanted to place the new Thermo-Tec and started cutting. I taped it to the factory heat reflective tape and also taped everything near the exhaust system. This material was fairly easy to work with and cut. I used scissors to cut and shape the material and it stuck together fairly quickly so be prepared to use disposable scissors. I could have used a razor or a cutter, but I needed the precision of scissors. The backing is very sticky so you only get one shot with placement, but you also know this stuff isn't going to fall off easily. After the work is completed, the plastic reaches a maximum temperature of 100 degrees. This is a drop of 20-25 degrees and no longer causes discomfort, let alone 1st degree burns. My riding style is water and mud so this stuff was dipped in both and still held up. The only downside, if it matters at all, is that it adds some extra weight. The material itself weighed as much as my plastic case itself, increasing its weight from 4 pounds to 8 pounds. It didn't bother me at all, but felt I should mention it for someone with a larger project where weight might be an issue.

Pros
  • The muffler reduces various road noises, engine noise and increases rider comfort and concentration
Cons
  • Reliability
