Design flaw, buy only after rectification

As an asthmatic, I usually choose high-quality HEPA or carbon cabin filters for my various vehicles, often from Bosch. I used this filter on my 2007 Honda Civic EX sedan to replace the regular OE filter for about two months. I didn't realize this until I went back to the Revain product page to read other reviews, but other people complaining about the massive drop in airflow are absolutely right. the moment I thought the climate control shock motor was going to either burn out or die from age and use. I wouldn't be surprised if over time the filter wears out the fan motor prematurely due to the increased resistance in the system with continuous use. I replaced the Bosch 6029C HEPA filter with the NAPA Gold Enviro Shield alternative and airflow from all vents immediately returned to what I was used to. In terms of its ability to clean the air, the filter seems to have done its job exceptionally well. In the two months of installing it in my car it has collected an amazing amount of dust and other particles. However, this seems to work too well.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Good, but not great
