Internal AC wiring is minimal

I bought this to build a hobbyist desktop power supply (RaspberryPi, Arduino etc) not suitable for PC use but I think my insights can help people. To build my block I had to disassemble this block. In doing so, I found that all of the internal AC wiring (power connector to the voltage selector switch, to the on/off switch, to the main power supply board) had been stripped. The insulation was stripped so far that many strands were torn off. This caused the wire to break off the solder joint with very little movement. Now it's clear that if you take this and plug it into a PC, you won't be physically moving those wires (because they're inside the case), but that means they're more likely to fail over time (due to PC movement). and vibrations). This may help explain why some reviews suggest it worked for a while and then stopped. I find that the power board performs well/consistently even at all voltages and the fan is pretty quiet (unless you're in a very quiet room, I don't think you'll notice). In my case I swapped out all the internal AC wiring when assembling the PSU, but (again) knowing this "internal info" might bother me. about using it on a PC.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
