charcoal or whatever I think/hope the charcoal came off the bristles when I was using the toothbrush so my teeth turned gray using it and the toothpaste and the water I spat out when rinsing my mouth was gray too. A little worrying. I only used one of the toothbrushes once. I was in the process of moving otherwise I would have reclaimed them as the rest are going in the trash. Waste of $8. That big flaw aside, the brushing experience with this toothbrush was weird, almost like brushing your teeth with a cloth. I'd love to keep trying and seeing results, but I wouldn't risk putting it in my mouth again.
