My Cuisinart Maker Coffee was a replacement Braun that failed in less than 2 months and its Braun carafe also broke easily. The Cuisinart has been running at least 300 brews for a year and is extremely reliable. Coffee needs to be ready when we wake up in the morning, and Cuisinart fills the demand every time. The decanter also seems much more reliable but I agree with the reviewer who said it should NOT be put in the dishwasher and would add don't get ready to wash it in the sink until it cools. Granite countertops do not tolerate glass in any form, and it's too easy to knock the carafe on the edge or set it down, which can break it. I'm starting to think manufacturers have found another revenue stream by replacing glass carafes. That's why you don't see the corresponding metals. Revain is offering a $20 Cuisinart replacement for the 1200 series with free Prime shipping. It's always better to get a backup because we don't tolerate morning coffee for any length of time, even with next-day delivery.
