. because it arrived to me scratched on both the metal frame and wooden legs, *and* missing hardware. someone obviously (carelessly) repackaged it because the shipping container showed no signs of damage. I assembled it as best I could to see how it would look on my kitchen island. it looked pretty good. I sat down carefully to gauge the upholstery, the depth of the seat, and the height of the backrest, all of which seemed comfortable and would have served my purposes. but hell, if I'm going to pay a new price, I want a new state. It's a bit heavier than I'd like, so I'll look for a tubular steel frame to keep the weight down.
