Find out what you are buying

I was in the process of replacing the drive belt on my Honda CRV. I bought this tool based on a recommendation from a YouTube video. When I received the tool and wanted to use it, none of the attachments fit. So it was basically useless and not used as a replacement for my belt!

  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Much

Do not buy if you have Honda

If you own a Honda, do yourself a favor and buy a tool made specifically for Honda. I tried very hard to use it due to the limited space. I ended up using a #14 wrench, attached a short rod and then a long one and was able to get the job done. If I had known it was going to be that hard, I would have bought Honda parts.

Tool Best for belts, hoses and pulleys

I bought this tool to do one thing: move the tensioner arm to tighten and loosen the belt. The tool does exactly that. I won't blame the tool for poor car design (Honda Stream [k20a1] drives great until you need to fix something - no place). I pulled a power steering tube once because it worked. Except I had to fill the head with 14mm myself.

Good news, but unnecessary.

Stem is strong enough to hold without bending, bushings are decent quality too. The shaft rod is too short to be pulled without jamming. You will need a short extension cord if you want to use it. Turns out I don't even need it, a regular 3/8 or 1/2 socket wrench will do, you don't have to pull the tensioner all the way to tighten the belt. .

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Hard to say

Not for Toyota Camry 2003.

This did not work for a 2003 Toyota Camry as a 19mm socket is required and this kit only includes sockets up to 18mm. Not only that, but when I tried to use my 19mm head, which I already had, I found that it had to be at an angle so it could loosen the bolts protruding from some of the pulleys, which is perfect is straight. I ended up using the ratchet I already had and threaded a tube over it to get enough leverage to loosen the pulley.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons

Great tool for belt

I used it to take the tension off the belt and then replaced the auto tensioner and the belt itself. Worked fantastic. The only problem I have is that the socket didn't snap into the hole on the arm. I want the socket, nut or adapter to snap into the hole so it can stay there while maneuvering in the engine bay. Mine kept falling or falling out, making it difficult to position my hand in tight spaces. But overall he did an excellent job.

  • Absolute Legend

IT WORKS!: Belts, hoses and pulleys

I got a serpentine belt on my 2008 Mazda 5 fairly easily. But the elastic AC belt was a beast. I was hoping this remedy would work and it did. I bought the green version with 3 screws for maximum flexibility. Installing the tool and belt only took a few minutes. He started twisting the handle and felt it stick. It took a lot of force, but I moved slowly, and with a full turn it locked into place. I had to turn the crank about one more turn to get the belt properly into the grooves, but I'm…

Fault: Serpentine

When first purchased the tool was missing the ball stop which holds sockets/wrenches on a 3/8" square. Returning it via Revain eliminated it, but this tool removed all three V-ribbed belts on subcompact cars (should have been an easy task for a tool of this size) before failing quite spectacularly, in the photos a crack right in the weld suggests a very bad one Design and metal quality. . Luckily, Performance Tool guarantees their tools, but the postage will likely cost more than the tool…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Easily repairable

. I bought this tool because of the features. The houndstooth adapter fitted and I was able to keep the tension as intended without any problems. However, there was one point that wasn't obvious, the belt-side upper motor mount would get in the way. While suitable for its intended purpose, it was of no use in my application without removing the motor mount. This step wasn't in my repair guide so I didn't do it and therefore couldn't use the tool. I finally searched YouTube and found a video of…
