Versatility, Small Side

This short tower is fairly easy to assemble and the design allows it to be used in multiple configurations. However, the photoshopped cats in the product photos give a very unrealistic representation of the actual size of this tower. Here's how I'll break it down: 1. Instructions: Ok. Step by step, clear enough. I wasn't a fan of all gear being stuffed into one bag and not sorted, but it didn't matter. Parts were clearly marked.2. Assembly: Pretty easy. I put it together in about half an hour, under a cat's close supervision of course. You also don't need two people.3. Durability: average. The base is quite small for the height, but the fact that you can rotate the base into a V or L shape helps.4. Materials: not impressive. "Plush Faux Fur" is a very thin synthetic material that sheds a lot. If your cat eats random things on the floor, plan on having this plush faux fur as part of their diet. It also does next to nothing to soften the MDF, so as far as I can tell it's basically like sleeping on a slab of wood. Based on my cat's reaction, the basket seems nice, but it's already flexing from its 12-pound weight and won't last long. The top cushion is nicely padded though and I love how the enclosed apartment uses a smart padded design that is still very durable. Looks pretty cheap. Fabric, cracks in the sisal, visible MDF boards, protruding screws - don't buy an apartment if looks are important to you at all. However, it's actually better than the other cat tower I got from another brand on this site, so here's the thing. 6. Comfort: tight. This is definitely the size for kittens or very small cats. My two 8 lb cats (now deceased) COULD enjoy this tower. My 12kg cat posed helpfully to give you a feel for the scale. The basket is too small for him (it didn't stay there long after I put it on) and it hangs a bit over the top. Generally there are lower quality towers on the market, but this one is not a winner. for my cats. Maybe for kittens or adult cats under 8 pounds, but even then there are better towers at this price point ($57.99 at the time of this writing). In our case I will donate it to the local cat shelter if they are interested.
