Edited 10/28/2020: I have updated my review of these cameras after the company released a firmware version which solved my problem with the wifi disabled. I've been using two cameras for several months with no failures. I would give 5 stars if they had a better way to store footage without having to remove the SD card. I subscribe to their cloud service which allows me to save directly from the cloud to my phone or iPad. All in all a good budget wifi camera. Edited 7/17/2020: I wanted to like this camera but the constant shutdowns are very annoying. Other reviewers complain about the same issue. WiFi gets disconnected and I have to manually restart the camera to reconnect. To do this I have to remove the small door from the camera, press the reset button and reconnect the camera with a password. Since my cameras are on the roof, I need a ladder. Doing this once a week is very stressful. I have other cameras that I use at the same time as this one and I have never had to do this in 2 years. What a waste of time. The disconnects seem to happen randomly. There is no power outage or anything like that. I'm connected to gigabit internet service and have a WiFi extender so the signal is good. In any case, I had to downgrade to one star because of the constant annoyances. Edited 5/3: After using the camera for a month I upgraded it to 4 stars. The motion sensor works well. I can film a car on the road about 20 meters from the camera and I'm very happy with the sound quality. For the price this camera is good so I bought another one. First, let me say that I have a wired camera system that supports POE (Power over Ethernet). These cameras work very well and I would definitely recommend wired cameras wherever possible. They work very well. I use a local DVR for recording and am very happy with it. I decided to install the Wi-Fi camera in a place that I couldn't reach with ethernet cables. This is the first time I've tried a true wireless battery powered camera. The picture was great but the way they work is that the motion sensor needs to wake up the camera to record video. I noticed that when the camera wakes up, the event has already passed. I walked down my 60 foot driveway and the camera started recording as soon as I entered the house. Needless to say it is unusable so I sent it back. I'm trying this camera right now and the verdict is still no. I installed the camera in the same place as the battery backed one and used an extension cord to connect to the power supply for now. By the way, I would recommend you to do this first, especially if it is difficult to use force. For me I need to drill a hole in the wall and also install an outlet to connect the transformer. Before doing all this work I want to make sure I fully understand the camera and want to keep it. My first issue is that this camera's Wi-Fi range isn't very good. The camera keeps disconnecting from the network and the video cannot be played. The battery-powered wireless camera is properly connected, so this camera has poor range. It's about 50 feet from my hotspot. I had the camera record all night, and this morning I brought it in and placed it about 20 feet from the hotspot. Now I can view recorded content as expected. I ordered a Wi-Fi extender to see if that would help, but beware, this camera has a range of about 25 feet or so. I would recommend making this camera with two antennas for longer range. The next problem is that the recorded media cannot be saved to the phone or PC via SD card without removing the SD card from the camera. I think it's crazy. The only way to save money is to subscribe to their cloud service. So remember that writing to an SD card is basically useless as you have to unscrew the access door and slide the card in to save it on another device. This is not feasible and forces you to purchase a cloud subscription which costs around $5/month for 7 days of recording. The last issue I noticed is that the cable that connects to the camera has a very large ethernet connector. That means the hole I need to drill will be big to hide the cables. Another reviewer commented on this and was right. The correct design would be to make this plug removable so I don't have to drill a big hole. I don't even use the ethernet part of it. On the plus side, the camera is very easy to install. I liked how easy it was to change the angle and position of the camera. The camera is made of plastic, which doesn't bother me for an outdoor camera. The plastic holds up well outdoors. I will update this review once I know if the wifi extender works. If not, I have no choice but to return the camera.
