Pretty effective for what I use it for, the back of my computer is right in front of the door so the cable really dangles my HDMI port and prevents the TV screen from accidentally turning off. Switching from display to HDMI allows me to take full advantage of my graphics card and I haven't noticed any degradation in picture quality. If anything, it's better since I didn't have to adjust or reconnect the cable. I'm sure there are better options for what I've actually achieved, but why would I put off my case? I'm happy where it is. ;]
