I prefer this type of office floor mat whether you are sitting or standing, although it definitely adds a lot of softness to those who are standing all the time. I probably wouldn't want something heavy on it like a table leg etc all the time, my work chair is fine but the casters make an impression after a few sits. It springs back fairly quickly, but I would make sure nothing is pressing on it the whole time as that might leave a lasting impression. Great for homes with hardwood floors, cuts out all noise from rolling chairs, toe tapping, awkward clattering of objects on the floor, etc. I personally like the yellow lines because my office doubles as my home recording studio and the yellow lines represent the control zone. as well as people with visual problems or residents with visual impairments: yellow makes it hard not to miss *so* thickly, I've seen someone stumble across it). Black suits any dark floor, which may or may not be desirable. I don't know about very long, but I was surprised at how little time it took me to straighten out. Some of the mats had to be weighted down to smooth out the crease in them and rolled them up to pack, it basically laid flat straight away. I guess that means it's pretty willing to bounce off an area that's been compressed for a long period of time, but I still prefer to play it safe. I wouldn't recommend this unless you require a very thin rug as you won't, but you don't get any padding or sound deadening with a regular thin placemat so I would definitely buy them again.
