I bought these LEDs to use as the backup lights on my 2003 Dodge Caravan. They replace the Sylvania 3057, which runs at 402 lumens. Since the JDM LEDs are rated at 1260 lumens, I expected them to be blindingly bright. They will definitely let you see speckles and pure white light behind a clear lens. These things are bright even during the day. I no longer worry about someone not seeing my backup lights. When I give up you will know. At night they light up an area that's at least 75 feet wide and over 100 feet long, but that's probably because my taillight has a cutout on the side and the LED can shine directly on the side of my car as well as directly behind it. In other words, they illuminate a much larger area than OEM bulbs. These LEDs are blindingly bright behind a transparent lens. I would find it annoying to other drivers if used for other purposes with clear lenses (other than reversing lights).
