Excellent door; costs money!

I have used a different brand of pet door for the last 16 years (in different homes) and have found it to be fine, although I have had to replace the doors a number of times (expensive but necessary). I have a whole house fan and it wasn't uncommon for the whistling of the air to open the damper or keep it open after my dogs passed it; not suitable for cooling or heating the house or for the occasional entry of flies or mosquitoes. It was a deal breaker because a rat had recently moved into my garage and I was afraid it might get in if the airflow opened (or blocked) the damper. it opens after being used by a dog), I closed it one night. The next morning I found a ragged vent in the corners that this rat was trying to get into (my dogs were in the house with me); It gives me nightmares when I think about it, but I have to think that the rat could have used the dog door, or it was a freaking coincidence! The guys I hired to catch the rat said the rodents get through the dog door I installed easily and often. I did a lot of research on electronic doors that would open with a transmitter or a magnet. on my dogs' collars, and it turned out that there were two runners in front. However, I was extremely suspicious after reading many bad reviews about the quality of transmitters (and expensive replacement parts) for one brand and the impact of washers and dryers (and one of my doors is in the laundry room) for another brand. . Both also had some terrible customer service issues and outages. Given the high cost of these models and the fact that I needed two doors, this didn't seem like a viable option. I found Endura Pet Door through another website. While not cheap (much more expensive than the previous brand I've used) I was confident that this would be a door that wouldn't swing open or stay open due to wind or airflow around the house and a rodent might not be able to get through ( especially the large size I need for my dogs). I ordered and installed two of these doors from Revain. (I have the ones that go in the door, not the wall). As mentioned, the hardest part for the guy who did my install was aligning the screw holes, but otherwise the install went fine. I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of these doors. They don't open with the wind, and while both of my labs took a little more effort to open these doors, they quickly got the hang of it thanks to the liver treats that come with the door. (The uninvited rodent got trapped and is gone now, but if it were still there it wouldn't get through that door.) These doors come with a guarantee that you don't get with the brand I've used before or those Researched brands I've used, which gives me even more confidence in their durability. I also think the company offers great customer service. Before installing I called support to ask about the size of the notch which seemed too big to me and while the person was answering my question he asked if I would like to speak to their engineer. I spoke to Nick (I believe this is the same guy from the company's installation video) and he was patient and informative. He said to call him if I ever had any problems and he would take care of me. (By the way, a large cutout to make it easier to tighten screws during installation.) So, this company really cares about serving their customers. So this door costs a lot more than the others but seems worth it and it costs a lot less than the electronic versions and seems a lot better value. I recommend it to others. Update August 2016: I've had the doors for three years now, since the day they were installed. The door has withstood strong sun and heat in the summer and wind and rain in the winter (it will be dry in California when we get that). I am about to move and will most likely be installing this door in my new home (glass door version).
