Great Prime Rib Knife

I've never bought a good knife before so I didn't know what to expect. Last year I started making ribs for a lot of the holiday meals and I've found that my old carving knife that came with my BB&B knife set (literally) won't cut it anymore. It was the featured choice on Wirecutter, so I took the plunge and bought it for an upcoming dinner party I was throwing. I honestly had no idea knives could cut large chunks of meat so well. Before I continue, please be aware that this is a sharp knife. It cuts very well, but it's not a magic blade. I think I had a secret hope that this knife would cut through meat like hot butter, but you should know that's a bit lacking. He cut prime ribs incredibly well and every slice was very clean. I no longer had to almost "saw" like I used to with my old knife and was able to cut thinner pieces with better control. The cuts have also become more aesthetic. I think for most people this is a great knife and probably way better than anything you already own unless you're already into knives. I think for the price you're getting a really good discount on a tool that makes rib carving a lot easier than you might be used to. Cut the meat without much pressure. I plan on sharpening it in the future to see if there's a big difference to factory sharpening, but right away it's more than enough.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Annoying
