I only use new cartridges in my Brother printers so this can get expensive (but not as expensive AND annoying as what happens with random quality refills and - leftovers happened) . When used with the Color Economy print preset, they last a very long time (yes, even with blacks, it's better to use the economy color setting than grayscale as all cartridges last longer). I always get excellent performance from color cartridges; Black cartridges typically require a cleaning program (every 3 cycles) about every 3-4 months (hence the 4 stars).
