The clips on both ends are nice and strong! The problem comes when this thing gets twisted. It has hinges, but tends to twist and buckle when my dog pulls on it instead of twisting it open, causing damage to the casing and cable over time. It only lasted 2 months, that's 1/8th the time of the old one I had, thought it would be a great upgrade. It is not. It began to break and crumble. This thing then becomes dangerous as its braided metal wire sticks out ready to rip your arm and leg off whatever gets in the way. If you have a really small dog that is passive and not strong enough to push, you might be fine. Good luck with your purchase.
