It definitely failed! We used a long cord on our 1 year old collie. It got tangled many times, then bent in multiple places, and then broke completely. See photo. We transferred it to a short cord, and it's frayed and twisted all over. The frayed pieces then get stuck in his fur. See the 2nd photo where I had to cut the cable out of the fur under his leg. He writhed in himself and in his hair, and he was trapped. And all this in less than 6 months since purchase.

Bought because of the reviews and description. But somehow my pet/Great Dane loosened the screw on the latch (yes, I tightened it) and the latch got stuck on the side of his collar. A little tug and he went off the leash, luckily I came up with a treat for him and he didn't run away. The leash is very well constructed and the spring is amazing. I don't like the locking system at all. I'll see if they do anything locally that I can put on it to make it safer.

We have the Great Pyrenees who love to roam. One way that worked was putting them on a big leash next to our goats. All rental times must be within their fence and under good supervision. This is awesome! I have two and they haven't tangled once a month - with other brands/traditional ones that are more brittle and plastic coated, my two puppies have kept getting tangled while playing outside. Even in cold winter weather there is no need to be afraid. The plastic coating cracks because there is none! The clasps have a rotating part to make it more secure, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Good option. They are a little heavier so they are great for my large dogs

The clips on both ends are nice and strong! The problem comes when this thing gets twisted. It has hinges, but tends to twist and buckle when my dog pulls on it instead of twisting it open, causing damage to the casing and cable over time.
