Review on Amcrest AWC2198 1080P Webcam: Business Grade, Dual-Mic, 2021 Updated, Wide Angle Lens, Superior Low Light by Erick Hernandez

Amcrest ProStream offers pretty good value for my use case which is streaming/recording gameplay via OBS. I found the overall image quality to be decent, but the edges looked a bit smooth. But even in relatively low light conditions (mostly with my monitors as the light source), the webcam performed better than expected. I tested the mic briefly as I usually use a separate mic. once heard me in discord because my voice seemed to go in and out. I tested it myself with a Dictaphone and found I had no issues with snippets, so it might be discord related. I found the audio quality to be good enough for video chatting and zooming, but definitely not good for streaming or recording. I would like to point out that there is a blue status light when the camera is in use, but it's hard to see because it's located deep in the slots on the bottom of the webcam. I wish it was a little more obvious and I had to put my head down and get closer to the webcam to check it out, which can look funny if you want to record yourself and check it out. The camera is turned on during the gram stream. I should mention that the camera is placed on top of my monitor, with the top of my monitor being slightly above eye level. Finally, I would like to say that if you are streaming and the webcam will be downscaled to stream as it usually does. I should probably just go with the privacy cover version. I think this camera does its job well and the lack of detail is negligible. Everything worked on the plug-and-play principle, no special drivers were required for installation. I got OBS up and running in minutes.
