Review on High-Quality Mustang Side Pull Rope Halter Featuring a Braided Nose for Enhanced Comfort and Control by Ronald Bleimeyer

My Icelandic loves it!

At first I thought it was too big. When first put on, the capsule sags a bit and sometimes hangs around the nostrils - it looks weird. But once everything is settled, just like you tightened the belt right before you put it on, tighten it and it will fit much better. I have to tie it as tight as possible to make it fit her. My main concern is that I'll end up with all that stiff rope and I'll have to find a place to hide it so she doesn't hurt her or poke her in the eye. Look, the capsule isn't the problem. I think the fact that it gives a little helps with the correction. I find I need to have a more direct fire at it - literally pulling her head a little more for tight turns, but I don't mind that. I don't have to pull hard or anything. My mare prefers this bridle A LOT. Last week I wanted to ride the bridle for the first time in a few months just to see if it would solve some of our problems. She saw the bridle and immediately became very dissatisfied and grumpy and jerked her head away. I changed my mind, pulled out the rope halter and walked over to her and she immediately perked up and actually helped me get dressed, willingly poking her nose in and raising her head to keep it from falling off. while I tied it. It's a bit like an SOB when you first use it. I'm finally getting used to it, but sometimes it takes forever. You put on the nose piece, then the headband, and sometimes the nose piece falls off, and then you have to hold it by grabbing the ropes to tie them together. And then you have to be careful that it doesn't turn inside out once you've solved everything. And in the winter, it can get damn tricky with gloves or cold fingers (or both). My mare is very patient in the field and just stands there while I fiddled with her to get her up. But if your horse isn't easy to catch and will run away at half the chance, I recommend using a regular halter and wearing it in the stable! LOLI will experiment by tying it loosely and trying to put it on that way and then adjust it once it's on her head. Overall I'm very happy with it. And I think it suits all horses!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Good but not great
