Review on Acme 535 Silent Dog Whistle by Josue Wallsmith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Used it to silence the incessant barking.

Our hearing impaired neighbor bought a puppy and forgot to train him. So the aforementioned pup preferred to bark incessantly out of earshot of its owner every time we entered the backyard. and this despite the fact that we were "friends" with the pup while we were on her side of the fence, and despite the fact that we tried to send treats over the fence as a bribe and remind her of our friendship. We bought this whistle on the advice of a friend who said it can irritate a dog by getting him to stop barking if we can teach the dog to associate prolonged barking with an annoying whistle reaction. Well we tried it by blowing for about 3-5 seconds every time we were in the back yard and the dog was standing next to our dividing fence and barking at us. The dog threw back its head in confusion. When she tried to bark again, the whistle blew again. After about 10 hits on day one, day two was even more successful - it took half as many whistles for the barking to stop. At the end, the dog only needs 1 reminder whistle before it stops barking and trots to a resting spot in the middle of the yard. I am happy to report that within a week the unwanted barking has almost disappeared, although the dog still barks at people walking in the alley behind the fence - we disturb the long-awaited "safe" barking, of course Not. She may need a few reminders from time to time but I am very pleased with the results the Dog Whistle has given us!
