Review on ATP Solid Valve Spring Compressor C Clamp Service Kit: Simplify Automotive Valve Spring Maintenance by Christopher Wiggins

This tool is great for my Toyota 5EFE. A few complaints mentioned in other reviews are the lack of a scratch-resistant piece to fit inside the combustion chamber and the fact that there is nothing to prevent the handle from falling out during use. As shown in my photos, I resolved each of these issues with the parts I had. The old stabilizer bushing made a good cushion for the valve face and I put a couple pieces of orange silicone on the handle to hold it in place in the tool. (I'm not sure what the original purpose of the orange stuff was. Small o-rings or even rubber bands would work just as well.) The bar stiffness and strength holder adapters were more than adequate for my use. The adapter from second largest to largest (25mm) worked well for the relatively small 5EFE valves, but for a large engine you can check if an adapter with a maximum diameter of 30mm and a total bore of 9 inches will do for you.
