We have had several different solar lamps and alarm clocks over the years, mainly Philipps the leading brand but this one really stands out in many ways. More and more important where we live, it has a battery backup so you don't lose your settings if the power goes out or you move it to another location. Illuminate the clock at night if you prefer to sleep in the dark. All the other features work well too, I particularly like the ability to adjust the sunrise and sunset times and the alarm sounds aren't annoying, but of course that's personal preference, I prefer the waves to the birdsong which many others have. I also think it's very pretty, especially with cones of light on the wall, don't know why some reviewers called it 'ugly'. The price isn't cheap but for me it's worth it, this one not only turns on when it's time but gradually dims to help you wake up (or fall asleep) smoothly.
