There is no valve at the end of the dispenser, just a small opening through which the detergent flows when the filler cap is removed. If the lid is not tightly closed, the detergent will also leak out. The brush is quite hard, but removes stubborn dirt well. The dispenser button is well designed and made from the right material, unlike the OXO version. Unfortunately, as the name suggests, it was discontinued by the manufacturer.
