Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 binoculars are great value for money! If you are not made of money, I think this is the best choice for every person. For years I used a very cheap set and it worked, but this birding season I wanted to upgrade and ended up buying this set. Setup is easy, follow each online instruction if you don't know how. I love the fact that you don't have to remove the lens caps and eyepieces and think about where to put them as the lens caps are actually attached to the lens barrels, just flip them down. Eyepiece covers (eyepieces) are attached with a cord. Look at a bird and in two seconds the lens caps are removed and replaced and you have the bird or whatever you want to see in focus. Pictures are clear. I am currently working on large birds like crows which are easy to track in flight with these binoculars. Good practice when warblers appear. The Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 binoculars are a good set of binoculars. You can spend more, a lot more if you want, but the waterproof Monarchs I recommend make you wonder why the average birder would want to spend more. Focus on the Milky Way with them for extra fun.
