I did this by cutting strips of cardboard and inserting them between the filter and the sides of the filter holder. If it works I will continue to use the filter until it gets dirty but I will not buy it again. I guess it's fair to say you get what you pay for. They were around $20 and dealer OEM filters were $40. An Ecogard filter will probably perform half as well as an OEM filter, so if you pay half the price you save half the quality.
