Protect your floors and your back

I recently installed new tiles in the kitchen and replaced the carpets with hard floors in the rest of the house. Laminate and hardwood floors are great, but they're prone to scratches caused by moving objects. Note that I didn't say "heavy-moving objects" because I've seen wood damaged by objects that I wouldn't consider heavy. So after installing the new floor, I knew we had to be careful when moving objects. I have purchased enough felt furniture pads for each chair, table and piece of furniture and will review these separately. This review is for the larger Furniture Mover items, purchased specifically to move our larger pieces of furniture such as sideboards, dressers, dressers and our oversized fridge. Quickly observing key pressure points on the furniture or equipment that needed to be moved ensured proper placement of the FELT. And since it was new flooring, I made sure to sweep the path I walked so the sand didn't stick to the felt and even tried to damage it as it moved. The absolute hardest part is getting the pieces right under the item you want to move. For larger items, I had my wife place them while I lifted them (and for the fridge, I used a pivot to get leverage). These felt pieces were nice and big in both length/width and height, meaning they were thick enough not to compress under the weight of the object being moved so much that they couldn't move freely. This is no problem for this product! Where the felt side glides across the floor, the opposite side is rubber that has a nice grip and will stay in place most of the time when a heavy object is placed on it. Once placed, I was able to move all of the items myself with utmost ease, including monstrous sofas, epic dressers, towering bookshelves, and the aforementioned oversized refrigerator. Everyone moved from one part of the room to another, and some were moved from room to room (no transitions in the doors). My wife was also able to move things herself, which she was happy to tell me about often. I used smooth-backed Teflon furniture glides for years when I had carpet. I am now equally happy to know that these felt movers are just as useful and effective.
