Due to the design I expect this timer to hold up well next to the stove. The buttons need to be pressed firmly, which is easily done by squeezing the timer between your index finger and thumb, with your thumb(s) on the bottom edge. The keys appear to be well protected from dirt and grease. I downgraded my rating by one star because unlike our previous timer, this one doesn't play the 5 minute alert tone that allowed us to prepare for the task we set it to do.
