Make Picture Frames Fun

I have been using the first generation of digital picture frames. The screen is small, and it shows photos on an SD card or a USB drive. There is no touch screen, and the UI is primitive. It uses up and down physical buttons to navigate menus. It was not fun to use. After using the latest digital picture frame like this, it has opened my mind. Frameo and their partners are trying to bring picture frames to the future. Besides a micro SD card slot and a USB port, it has WiFi and a touch screen. The screen is bigger. Furthermore, it has an orientation sensor. The frame can be placed portrait or landscape. Photos are always in the upright position. The device runs on the Android system. Photos can be transferred from a smartphone after it becomes a friend. Click "Add Friend" in the frame. It shows a string of digits. Click "Add Friend" in Frameo app on a smartphone, and input the string of digits. The phone and the frame become friends. In Frameo app, I can select and send photos to the frame. The transfer can be done remotely through the Internet. All family members can connect to their phones with the frame and push photos. We have taken many photos every day, every family event, and every vacation trip, but they are stored on external hard drives. With this digital picture frame, we can see the photos and relive the moments that have been forgotten while sipping coffee.[Update] I have used it for a few months. Every 2 or 3 weeks, it freezes. The screen doesn't go to sleep at night and doesn't respond to any touch. I have to power cycle it.

Pros
  • INSTANT WIRELESS SHARING of WIFI DIGITAL PICTURE FRAME
Cons
  • The menu system is confusing and difficult to navigate
