Review on GoodBoy Pink Inflatable Donut E-Collar For Dogs & Cats – Comfortable Post Surgery Or Wound Recovery Collar (2) by Jazz Rajasingam

These are a must for K9 post surgeries!

These are so much easier to work with than the plastic Elizabeth collars (E-Collars).I was so happy when these came onto the market long ago. It's been years since I had to use an E-collar for one of my dogs but I recently rescued a 10yo retriever who hadn't been spayed so I hopped on and bought another. These inflatable collars are so much more easier for the dogs to get around in, especially if you have a shy or skidding pup. Ramming the plastic cones into walls, door frames or furniture only makes their recovery more stressful for them and their owners. They can eat and drink just fine with these on.I have used these in the past for both spay and neuter post surgeries.I will note that if you are questioning the size you should definitely up. Sizing down will likely be a problem and your pet will be able to access their incision or wound. As a rule of thumb for me, I always will go up one size just to ensure my pet can't reach the area to chew or lick. You can also deflate or inflate the collar for further adjustments onthem as well! For example, at night or whenever I wasn't with my pet I would make sure to inflate the inner as much as possible. This restricts the areas they are able to reach even more. Deflating a bit will do the opposite, etc.Sliding your dogs normal collar through the inside of the protective cover of the inflatable collar is very easy and would suggest that you keep the collars attached this way at all times during recovery to avoid slipping off.Over time (6-12 months or so), the plastic inner tube in these will usually break down and a small section will break the seal and will leak slowly once inflatted. I learned this years ago and although I always keep one on hand for emergencies, I usually will buy a new one and gift the other one to someone who may need it. I just wouldn't say these are something you would never have to purchase again but they are very well priced for the quality and much less expensive than what you'll pay at the big pet stores.*TIP 1. If you are really unsure if the fit buy through Prime and get two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit best.*TIP 2. If this is a planned surgery, I always tell my clients to order a week or so ahead if possible to fit and allow your dog to wear if a few times in the days leading up to the surgery date so he/she can get somewhat accustomed to it.I last purchased the pink and grey for my 65lb Golden Retriever for her spay. She is extremely sensitive to loud sounds and anything new to her surroundings. She did perfectly fine with this inflatable. She slept great with it and would rest or sleep with her head on it like we would with an airplane neck pillow. It's also very soft to the touch. The only downside was that it would heat her up pretty quickly if she was outside in the sun. I remedied this by simply unsnaping the collars and would take it off her when she went outside for her breaks as long as I was with her. Once she was done it was easy enough to open it up the collar in to large C shape, wrap it back around her neck, snap her normal collar, then snap close the inflatable collar and bam.all done! Again, I was only removing it if the weather was warm and she would be outside for longer than a normal break. All in all, I highly recommend these.
