Better than my expensive Oxo

I bought my Bodum over 7 years ago. When moving, after about 3 or 4 years, I lost it and bought an Oxo car, which I really liked. until I found my bodum! I recently found it and the coffee made in this French Press tastes way better than an Oxo machine for a fraction of the original cost and without having to constantly buy filters. I'm originally from the UK and when I left coffee machines were rare and French presses in use. I suspect this is due to the superior taste, the lack of risk of mechanical failure and you don't have to bother with descaling the machine and buying descaling solutions. The French Press is completely effortless! Reading the reviews here I also found a heat retention feature in the lid (you can twist the lid to close it which completely insulates the pot) which I have not paid attention to when using in the past! Now my coffee stays warm in the pot and tastes great. It also looks stylish and takes up less space than a coffee maker (my Oxo coffee maker is quite large). I read somewhere that you only have to let the water sit for 4 minutes before diving, which is probably why it tastes so good this time. I've been drinking coffee for decades and I don't like Starbucks coffee (too bitter). French press coffee made using the 4-minute method tastes better than coffee I've had in any coffee maker. I've found I can use cheaper coffee without sacrificing the taste, so it's a win-win in every way. I also noticed that I use half the amount of coffee to get 8 cups of strong coffee. I think this makes sense since the coffee is in the water for a full 4 minutes instead of just having the water flow over and through it for the same amount of time. I don't understand people who say Bodum doesn't make great tasting coffee - simplicity is usually better, and it certainly is when it comes to this topic. I'm so glad I found him and can only recommend him.
