The advantage of this connector is that the rib around the ball seat, which recedes to connect to the vertical edge, strengthens the neck and reduces the likelihood of folding in either direction. I was able to weld a 3/4" bent steel rod horizontally to the ball joint and then back to the frame on both sides for easier lifting and moving of the trailer and to add side reinforcement.
