. Cars or audio equipment - but otherwise I'm quite an experienced handyman

I'm not familiar with cars or audio equipment - but I'm quite an experienced handyman when it comes to other things like rewiring rooms in my house and I was so upset at the lack of decent instructions and the quality of this kit. The fact that I had to cut three parts from this kit for my application was not only very annoying, but also not very easy. You could at least put cutting lines along the edges where they expect you to cut to make it easier and cleaner. After cutting out the pieces, I followed the "instructions" which are just miniature drawings of the pieces and where they go. The instructions do not contain any specific information for your vehicle. This means you need to check the fit of the parts to find the right angle so the radio fits where it needs to be and aligns properly with the hole in your dash. Also, the screws included in the kit weren't long enough to even go through the kit's clamps, let alone fit into the holes on the side of the stereo. So I had to supply my own screws. I ended up removing the metal brackets from the factory stereo and installing them on my new stereo. The only part of the Metra kit I used was the bezel that covers the gap in the dash opening. All in all, this set is a waste of money. I could save $13 and a lot of hassle cut a piece of plastic at my shop for the gaps in the dash faceplate and put an end to that.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Volume
