I bought this primarily as an SD card reader/writer for my PC, but with a long cable instead of a USB connector it extends the connection by 3ft! It's a lot easier to use than one of those gumpack-sized reader/writers, and it adds 6 USB ports, perfect for devices (like laptops) that don't have as many USB ports. Tried swapping my USB headphones from my current hub to these and they worked great, no difference. I recommend this to anyone planning to buy an SD card reader/writer, you won't lose it. The only issue I had was that the USB cable is a bit difficult to plug in but as it can be more stressful when using it. This is understandable as it is less likely to accidentally fall out. While transfer rates vary, I have seen files larger than 1GB being copied from SD cards at a consistent rate of 25-27MB/s. I highly recommend it.
