Item: I'm not very good with watercolors and prefer watercolor pencils for more control. I have Derwent Inktense pens and I love them, but sometimes they're too light for the look I'm going for. I've tried different sets of cheap watercolor pencils and I have to say I'm very impressed by Castle Arts. They are just as smooth and creamy as regular Castle Art Pencils, which I love too. These watercolor pencils apply beautifully and blend perfectly. The pens are octagon shaped, making them easy to hold and won't hurt your hands. They are easy to sharpen and do not break. Although they come pre-sharpened, that's not a good point. I recommend sharpening before use. The first page I colored with this was in a book using Create Space paper, as we know it's one of the most difficult papers to work with. There was normal warping of the paper, but as you can see the picture turned out great (although I'm not an artist). I only used Castle Art watercolor pencils with fine liners and gel pens for highlights. All shades and gradients of pencils. You can't go wrong with that for the price. One of the pencils broke and lost its lead when I sharpened it. I contacted the seller about the problem and asked for a replacement pencil. They sent me a full replacement set.
