but I have to say that with the new

Hooray! I ordered several USB-C to HDMI and VGA cables but they didn't fit my new HP Envy laptop. (purchased in January 2018). HP couldn't help me. I read several forums and one person suggested this one and it worked. I will keep you updated if anything changes. But right now I'm excited because I have a big presentation this Friday and I need to use this adapter. I also read that it would be wiser to have a newer high speed HDMI cable. It worked with our old cable, but I have to say that it looked better with the new high-speed cable.
