So far I love these pedals. A season without problems, pens are still very sharp, will update if my mind changes. There isn't much that compares, but they are extremely grippy and I almost never lose my footing when wearing barefoot-style Merrel shoes (thin flats, etc.). Visually appealing in black. I recommend being extra careful with them, especially right after installation. I have several small scars on my knees/shins/calfs, some of which I hardly felt and bled for days. EDIT: I highly recommend putting them on on Five Ten Freeride shoes or similar "skate" shoes. They go well with regular running shoes, but using special flat shoes resulted in fewer slips and close hits due to the excellent grip. The pedals are still smooth after many scratches and bumps.
