Review on πŸ”Œ Measureman Electrical Test Kit: Non-Contact AC Voltage Detector, GFCI Outlet Tester, Live/Null Wire Judgment, and Socket Tester by Tim Wheeler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good Combination Pair of AC Voltage Testers

Good AC voltage combo, one for checking the socket/socket and the other 'non-contact' for checking for the presence of AC voltage.* Socket/socket tester It's really nice to have a backlit digital voltage display does the job, can identify the "correct" and an open, neutral plug, but the LEDs are ALL RED whether it's just "open" or the more serious "reverse" condition. Compared to the traditional one I have, it uses two colors, with red indicating heavier "reverse travel" and two yellow lights indicating normal or open wire. So the three red color approach is a bit confusing and you need to read the table to find out what is wrong. Finally there is a small button to turn off the GCFI output to ensure it is working, working properly. Forgot to mention that this outlet/socket tester uses the other one which means the other outlet needs to be emptied whereas my traditional one only occupies one outlet and doesn't block the other outlet (neither top nor bottom).* Non-contact AC Detector Voltage It has two modes, one is more sensitive when the button is pressed, very sensitive that even more than 2 inches away live AC voltage can be detected. This helps me determine where the AC voltage stops in one of my hanging Christmas lights and which LED bulb is faulty, good job! However, it's also funny that there is a "false positive" warning that my iPad is charging at variable voltage. Loaded with 5V DC, but where is the AC? In general, both tools work when detecting the presence of AC voltage, it gives a false positive, but the good thing is that there is no false negative (if you have AC voltage and your tool can't detect it). So I would continue to use both tools to test AC voltage.

Pros
  • Wide Application: Widely used for electrical appliance inspection, office socket testing, extension cord testing and socket testing in schools, laboratories, factories and other social fields.
Cons
  • Expensive
