I decided to buy this pillow because of my constant sore throat which the doctor said was due to nighttime acid reflux. The pillow was nicely packaged in a tight plastic bag in a tightly sealed box. It was dented in the box but opened up immediately after opening without losing its shape. The first few days of using the pillow I was very disappointed as it caused me a lot of lower back pain. I put it on my mattress and kept sliding down. My sleep was terrible because I kept waking up to slip back onto the pillow. Finally I decided to put a pillow under the mattress. It works much better and my back pain is gone. I no longer have a sore throat when I wake up in the morning, which shows that this pillow really helps with reflux at night. I still suffer from reflux during the day, but that's another story. Be aware that if you put a pillow under your mattress, your mattress will tip and your partner will feel uncomfortable if the bed is lifted to the side. My husband doesn't mind, but this is clearly not a long-term solution for us. But so far it works!
