Review on Enhance Vehicle Performance with Standard Motor Products EGV576 EGR Valve by Deejay Allard

It was/they say it fits but doesn't fit.

This valve could work well in the right application but I'm pretty lazy. A few weeks ago I was looking for an EGR valve for my car (2003 Honda Civic Hybrid). This valve showed up in the search results and when I clicked on it, the text on the webpage also indicated that this part would fit my car. I ordered it and it was well received, but due to the weather and moving across the US I have not installed it to date. I found it doesn't fit because the electrical connector is in the opposite direction (rotated 180 degrees around the valve axis) to the original connector. The wires on the back cable didn't reach until I separated the pieces, rearranged the cable, and pulled it tight enough. It's working great at the moment! But I suspect that due to vibration and temperature changes, the wiring/connections will soon fail. So I looked at amazon.com. I have been looking for EGR valves to fit my car and this valve is still listed as one of the valves to fit my car. But when I click on this valve's link, the webpage that comes up now says the valve *doesn't* fit. That is, the search results still show yes (which is wrong), but the website now says no (which is right). I don't understand the listing process well enough to know if an error occurred. Part of amazon.com or Standard Motor Products, or maybe the valve design (or manufacture?) was actually defective. Regardless of that, I will probably have to replace the valve again at some point "in the future". Another problem is as follows. The description said and doesn't say it will be with a gasket so I ordered and received a gasket too. When I opened the valve box for the first time today, I found that a gasket was included in the kit. I think I can always make a necklace out of it or something. Hmm, now I see if I want to describe the seller experience I should do it on amazon.com/feedback instead. But I can only leave 400 characters in there (what a pain, what's the point?) and I can't be sure if the seller is a problem or not, so . I'm done.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, everything is fine
