We have a Spectrum TV at home. To save money, I turned off cable TV in my room from the start. After doing a little research, I found out that Roku has a Spectrum app that works with a cable subscription, so I decided to order it. I figured it would be worth paying the $30 upfront for the Roku media player instead of paying $10 a month to rent a cable box. So far I think it's been worth it. The Roku Premiere hardware itself is pretty cool. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, but still capable of playing high-quality 4k videos. The kit includes the Roku Premiere itself, a short HDMI cable, a power adapter and cables, a remote control with the necessary batteries, and strong double-sided tape to attach it to your TV. I originally planned to put it behind my TV so it can be hidden, but it needs line of sight if you want the remote to work, so that was a bit of a shame. However, the device is so small that it is actually not that important. I ended up sticking it to the bottom of the TV and barely realizing it's even there. The range of applications is quite large. The Roku Channel is particularly good because the video quality is excellent and it doesn't cost anything to watch. They only show a few ads about every 15-20 minutes. Other apps are a bit hit-and-miss. The only reason I bought this device (Spectrum app) is a bit of a disappointment. Looks noticeably worse than the cable box option. The compression is pretty heavy and I'm pretty sure they clipped the channels too. Still, it's nice to finally be able to watch Dodger games on a 55-inch TV from the comfort of your bed. I still have many other channels to find and test, but I'm quite happy with the few I've tried. For everything it offers I think it's worth $30 (I bought it on sale) and the value can only increase as I find more useful channels to try. Absolute recommendation for anyone in a similar situation.
