I sew my own clothes and these days everything is fabric assembled and this cheap little foot picks up perfectly, picks up ruffles and makes little pleats - I'll never staple and hand assemble again ! It works better than the standard presser foot for assembling or customizing my sergers. It takes some time to figure out how to attach it to the car and play around with the different settings to get the ruffle the right size. I spent about an hour sewing a few inches for each setting, then wrote down how much the length was reduced by so I could now figure out which settings to use for a particular project without trial and error. The only problem with this foot is that it's a hassle to get the machine on and off and I've found that I don't care at times. Finally, I got out a used sewing machine and converted it to a ruffle machine, meaning it has that foot permanently. This was an amazing addition to my sewing room and I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.
