My laptop came with a Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB 5400RPM hard drive. I do web development on my laptop, so I often have a database server running. The bottleneck for databases is a slow drive, and I found that a 5400 rpm drive made my system quite slow when I had a full development environment, so I decided to switch to a 7200 rpm drive. As a longtime Western Digital user, this disc was my first choice. It turns out that this drive is 9.5mm thick, while the Seagate Momentus Thin (now called the Seagate Laptop Thin) is 7mm thick. What a difference 2.5mm! When I installed this drive in my laptop, there was a noticeable bulge under the keyboard, so large that my spacebar was kept pressed, making it unusable. Let's get back to Revain. On the plus side, it was definitely faster than a 5400rpm drive. When I booted up my laptop, I felt like it was 1995 again, but I booted up much faster with the new drive. My laptop is ASUS Vivobook V500C. This disc is definitely not suitable for this model. If you're buying a drive to replace a drive in your laptop, make sure you check the thickness of your existing drive to make sure that drive will fit.
