My 5 year old daughter put up with so many water bottles because she chewed the silicone mouthpiece so this water bottle is perfect for her! We haven't had any issues with the leak, but you need to be sure that anyone using it can shut it off properly. The spout must be squeezed and twisted by the user to create an airtight seal. I think if she were younger we would have a lot of leakage issues. I have taught it while practicing it several times and it has turned golden since then. It even held up perfectly a few times when she dropped it. Highly recommended for older children!
