UPDATED All Show, Little Function

I really wanted this SMEG coffee maker to work well. We have a SMEG toaster that looks great and makes great toast. However, the coffee machine does not disappoint. We've had it for six months now and while it makes delicious coffee, here are our impressions: 1) Filling the water tank with the carafe is difficult, and because the carafe hits the open lid over the filter, not all of the water can get out of the carafe to be emptied. We had to use an empty plastic creamer container to fill the reservoir with water. 2) If the carafe doesn't sit perfectly on the heating element, there will be coffee all over the counter. 3) The controls are disappointing. . Don't throw away the user manual or you'll get stuck. 4) We found water/coffee stains under the unit on the counter for no apparent reason. 5) After 6 months, the coffee maker shorted out our outlet and now won't work. Spending $200 on a coffee maker was a gamble and I would never do it again just to have the appliances adjusted. If you're looking for a reliable, high-end machine, check out the Dutch-made Moccamaster. Great device. UPDATE: SMEG sent us a new coffee maker. After 2 months the same thing happened and the device had a short circuit. I just ordered a Black and Decker coffee maker for $34. Never again, SMEG!
