Review on πŸ’§ GE FQK2J Drinking Replacement Filters: Pure and Refreshing Water at Your Fingertips by Byron Forman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expensive but good quality for clean drinking water

We bought these filters after trying universal heavy spills. The generics came with no instructions and turned out to be EXACTLY the same in every way, but we were unable to use them as the water flowed from the sealed area. GE filters work like clockwork. I only have two concerns: 1. For the price, they should come with "food grade silicone grease" which the instructions say is needed around the o-ring before installation. This is a hard-to-find product and can literally come with filters in a small squeezable package like ketchup. It would be a really nice touch from GE if they could just turn it on. My 1 hour spent researching this stuff, wandering around Home Depot and walking out empty handed resulted in me calling my dad who said to just use Crisco!2. There are absolutely no instructions on how to recycle these filters on the attached sheet or packaging. If they are supposed to be replaced every 6 months, there shouldn't be a way to recycle them. We have so much plastic waste and it would be nice to know where to take it as there are no labels or indicators to indicate the type of plastic used in their production. The lack of a proper disposal solution is disappointing and not up-to-date. Still, I'm giving it 4 stars out of 5 because the water tastes great and filters out a lot of contaminants for drinking and cooking in the kitchen. I will buy them again in 6 months.
